Out Loud is an artistic platform for young LGBTQ+ voices in Utah. Through a 12-week workshop series, these teenage artists have explored new mediums and developed their artistic voices with support from local queer artists and Museum mentors. They are proud to present this exhibition, the culmination of their Out Loud experience.
“It is difficult to convey the complexities of the queer experience through a single canvas. It is impossible really to convey infinite spectrums of gender, love, struggle, and joy into something visible to the human eye. As young queer people, it is even harder to find how and where we fit into a multifaceted maze of color. Luckily, there is no set form of expression for the queer experience, and we have much more than a single canvas with which to share and create. We hope that if anything, our art leaves you with a new lens. If you squint your eyes, twist it around, and look closely, you might see yourself reflected in an array of nuanced, ever-changing patterns. We have learned that if the young, queer experience is one thing, it truly is: kaleidoscopic.”
