While each vignette exists independently from the next, Jacobson connects them to one another through their scale and materiality. Mud, recognizable settings, and loosely rendered sculptures create a dream-like world in a state of flux that feels both familiar and foreign.
Jacobson’s manifested subconscious thoughts present the viewer with a frozen instant in which an action or conflict is at a tipping point, yet deprives us of a conclusion. This act exploits our desire to fill in the elusive details surrounding these individual moments, much in the same way we attempt to remember our dreams after waking.
