Time and Other Materials

Time and Other Materials, directed by Amie Knox, brings together five artists working across animation, ceramics, installation, and large-scale sculpture. Through a series of intimate studio encounters, the film offers a close look at the minds, processes, and inner lives that shape long-term artistic practice.

Organized in five chapters, the documentary traces shared concerns with discovery, mystery, femininity, and imagined futures, considering how creative work becomes a site of reflection, relation, and sustained inquiry. Moving between personal reflection and material process, the film attends to the conditions under which art is made, shared, and lived with over time.

Following the screening, two of the artists featured in the film—Martha Russo and Rebecca DiDomenico—and director Amie Knox will join UMOCA for a post-screening Q&A.
