Artists Against the Bomb opens Friday, October 16, 2026.
Jan 30, 2025 7–9 PM
Join us Thursday, January 30 from 7–9 pm for This was water—a multimedia performance by Carey Campbell (music) and Kellie Bornhoft (video) that examines the environmental crisis facing the Great Salt Lake. The performance features live chamber ensemble music, electronically processed sounds, and movements composed entirely from soundscapes recorded at the lake. Video footage of the lake is an integral part of the performance, creating an immersive experience.
The work transitions between recognizable and abstracted sounds and visuals, presenting a range of emotional tones, including moments of joy, serenity, confusion, and dismay. Through the combination of music, video, and environmental soundscapes, This was water offers a reflective exploration of the Great Salt Lake’s precarious condition and its broader ecological significance.
Registration required. Admission is a $10 suggested donation.
