Join us Friday, March 10, from 6–9pm for the opening reception for four new exhibitions—Haimaz, Heimr, Hjem, Heem, Hām, Home; Boombox Benefit; Matthew Sketch: FAM(ily); and A Way of Working: the Design Process of Sparano + Mooney Architecture. Cassette tape DJ set by Adam Michael Terry.
Haimaz, Heimr, Hjem, Heem, Hām, Home seeks to explore the notion of homes that are real, constructed, remembered, displaced, damaged, and imagined through the lens of the Old English word hām, which refers to a place where many souls are gathered.
The Boombox Benefit is a collaborative exhibition and auction event, engaging 10 local artists and 10 local organizations.
Matthew Sketch’s FAM(ily) uses representations of the local landscape as a jumping-off point, Sketch uses hard-edge geometric abstraction to explore the relationship between light and land. Central to his paintings is the sun, which is given luminance and texture through a layer of gold leaf.
A Way of Working: the Design Process of Sparano + Mooney Architecture presents works that celebrate the conception of ideas in the design process of Sparano + Mooney Architecture. The constructs in the exhbition are exemplary of those that guide the creation of each of their projects located throughout the American West.
