Mitsu Salmon will lead an introduction workshop to Butoh, which is a contemporary Avant- Garde dance form that emerged after WWII in Japan and connects movement to imagery. In this workshop, you will learn a quick overview of Butoh and some basic exercises. We will work with guided movement and structured improvisation. Salmon was in a Butoh company, Ima Tenko and Kiraza for three years in Japan and will draw from that training. The workshop interweaves Butoh with visions and textures of the desert in Utah as inspiration for dance. Students are welcome to modify exercises based on their comfort and inventiveness.

All levels are welcome and please wear comfortable clothing.

Registration required. Workshop limited to 20 participants.
