Join us for an in-gallery artist talk with three artists from the group exhibition—A Greater Utah. Kelly Tapìa-Chuning (b. 1997) is a mixed-race Chicana artist of Indigenous descent from southern Utah currently based in Detroit, MI. Tapìa-Chuning’s work utilizes research, textile deconstruction, and needle-felting to examine the power dynamics attached to racial identity/culture, gender, and language. Kelly Brooks grew up in the Salt Lake Valley near the Cottonwood Canyons. She received a BFA in Drawing and Painting from Brigham Young University in 2002 and a certificate in Art Education from Weber State University in 2004. Her artistic interests span several media but focus most on drawing and painting. English Brooks received a BA in English from the University of Utah and a MA in English from the University of Nevada, Reno. He is an Associate Professor of English at Snow College.
