Artists Against the Bomb opens Friday, October 16, 2026.
Dec 14, 2024 1–4 PM
Join us for Family Art Saturday, December 14, from 1–4 pm. Echoes of Home: Masks of Resistance will be led by local visual artist Allison Martínez Arocho.
Vejigante masks are worn by Puerto Rican folkloric characters that serve as joyful symbols of resistance. As we decorate masks in this workshop, we will reflect on memories of home—whether it be a physical place or a shared cultural identity. By adding our personal nostalgic elements to the surface of the mask, we will craft an object that celebrates the power of memory to resist assimilation.
This event welcomes participants of all cultural backgrounds. Drop in anytime between 1–4 PM. No RSVP required!
